1525 lunch House of Lords

Lord Bingham with guests
Guests
110 members of the Society and guests turned up at the House of Lords for Lord Bingham's first 1525 Society President's lunch.
OSs travelled from all over the UK and even Norway to be at the event, the largest the society has ever held.
After being welcomed by Lord Bingham Headmaster Christopher Hirst who had come down that morning from Sedbergh with his wife Sara, spoke about the School today and particularly the changes that had taken place.
The Headmaster said the name of Michael Thornely would remain forever part of Sedbergh's history and the re-naming of Guldrey Lodge as the Michael Thornely Music School would be an ever present reminder of his influence.
After lunch Christopher and Sara had to return to Sedbergh for the evening performance of West Side Story but received a standing ovation from the assembled guests as they left, many of whom would not see the Hirsts again in their official capacities.
